Are You Ready? - Making sure we're ready for the next lesson ...

The next lesson will start with Chapter 1 of our text, Microsoft Press book "Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Step By Step" by Michael Halvorson (ISBN: 0735613745). So the first item on your checklist is to acquire the text either by itself (if you already have VB.NET 2003 installed on your computer) or as part of the VB.NET Learning Edition.

The next item is to make sure that VB.NET 2003 is installed and ready to go.

Also, you need to install the practice files that are provided with the text.

And finally, you should read through the Introduction in the text.

One last bit of advice!

Actually, this is more 'begging' on my part.

If you ask a question in the Forum or by email, please, please, please ... identify the lesson and program source that you're asking about.

I get so many questions similar to, "My program won't compile. What's wrong with it?"

What program? Which lesson are you trying to do? Is this a sample program from the text or something you're trying to do on your own? Is there an error message somewhere? What do you mean by "won't compile"? Does your computer melt down into a heap of radioactive molten silicon or does something else happen?

You get my point. Please provide enough information so someone can help you.

So until next time, let me close this lesson by pointing out something right there in the first paragraph of the text Introduction.

"You'll have fun!"

Until our next lesson ...
