| Beginning Web Programming using VB.NET and Visual Studio .NET | |||||
| by Daniel Cazzulino, et al (September 2002 - List Price: $39.99) | |||||
Programming for the web is one of the most popular uses of VB (and development in general) these days, so the Wrox machine has a full lineup of books that take you through a complete training course from beginning to advanced. But keep in mind that this is a web book - different than a "pure" VB.NET book. This one starts out with ASP.NET and web oriented software and never really covers the ground that a "pure" VB.NET book would. Never fear, Wrox sells books that do cover that ground and they're reviewed here too. |

The book does VB.NET for the web right, however. Relatively concise for Wrox books at only (?) 450 pages, this one explains all the elements necessary, from the interface to the server to the database. For example, there are significant sections on XML and ADO since those are technologies used so much in web programming. This is also one of the more recent books, so more recent developments are included. Applications: ASP.NET (of course), XML, ADO.NET Daniel Cazzulino is a top developer and a total convert to the way of .NET. He's also very big in XML circles too and has made significant contributions to the development of technologies like XSLT/XPath/Xquery. If you're in his neighborhood, say hello to him in Buenos Aires, Argentina. |
